HEADROCK WRITING COMPETITION
HELP THE UNDERDOGS
THIS IS ONE OF THE UNDERDOGS THAT ARE DESTINED TO LIVE ON THE STREETS IN THE CITIES OF THAILAND...THE WRITING COMPETITION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED TO SPECIFICALLY HELP THESE POOR CREATURES.
THE FOLLOWING EXPLAINS HOW YOU CAN HELP:
IN PRAISE OF THE UNDERDOG
We thought it might be fun to run a writing competition to give you something
to do over the Christmas holiday break. The subject is the abandoned, neglected,
sometimes sick, long suffering and always grateful MUTT. Depending where you are
in the world these sad dogs are also called ‘strays, rescue
dogs, curs, or soi dogs.
We would like you to write in any style you wish be it prose, verse, rap, or any other style in under 1000 words to be submitted by 31 December, 2008. Your account can be from personal experience, observation or imagination.
The Judges are: the Editor of The Pets Page of ‘The Bangkok Post’ prestigious news paper, the Founder of the Canadian Voice For Animals Foundation (CVFAF), the Publisher of the popular Hua Hin (Thailand) magazine ‘The Observer’ and the Editor of a Belgium based ex-pat magazine (name to be confirmed)
The winning entries will be published in the Bangkok Post, The Observer and the ex-pat magazine and given ‘pride of place’ on CVFAF’s website and our own website.
In addition we will ask the winners to choose any one of our dogs they would like to sponsor. We will give a year’s free sponsorship of their chosen dog which will include a sponsorship certificate and regular updates.
WHAT TO DO
We have two classes to enable children as well as adults to enjoy putting their writing skills to the test. The children’s category is for 10 – 14 year olds.
Children’s entry fee is 250 Baht (Thailand) $7.00 USD 5.00 GBP or 6.00 Euro
Adult’s entry fee is 500.00 Baht (Thailand) $15.00 USD 10.00 GBP or 12.00 Euro
