BLACK SATURDAY IN AUSTRALIA

THIS WAS ONCE A BUSTLING HOUSEHOLD FULL OF LOVE AND SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL KANGAROOS THAT WERE UNDER THE PROTECTION OF STELLA AND ALAN REID....NOW THERE IS NOTHING LEFT EXCEPT THE DETERMINATION TO BEGIN ANEW AND BRING THIS DESOLATE AREA BACK TO LIFE.

A HEARTFELT MESSAGE FROM STELLA AND ALAN

It is day 13 at Wildhaven and I am sitting on the hill not far from
the ruins of our home.  We have a new wireless apple computer  (too
much for these old folk) but we are getting there.

This is just a brief not to thank you all for your kind messages of
love and support.  The letters have helped us in our great sadness.  I
had left my camera at the fire station in St Andrews and could not
remember where it was.
When I went to put my fire uniform back on the hook I saw the camera.
Alan had the scorched clothes he stood in, his wallet in his back
pocket, I had sandals, shorts, t shirt and the little camera. We lost
everything else...none of which is important compared to losing all
our little ones in care and hundreds of those we had released over the
years.

This if the first time I have used a computer since black Saturday.

I have attached a picture for you and will let my dear husband Alan,
finish this letter of thanks to you all, as it is hard to see the
computer through the tears.

A sincere thanks to everyone who has sent money to assist with
Wildhaven's recovery; we appreciate these are difficult times for
everyone and your generosity has overwhelmed us. A special thanks to
Teresa at WLPA for her wonderful work. (I'm not sure if Teresa is part
of this address list, but if she is not, could someone kindly pass
this on to her?). We will be back, bigger and better than ever and
Stell will heal all the faster when she has some little ones to love
again. We will write again soon. At the moment we are trying to sort
out insurance assessors, replacing documents and generally re-
establishing our identities...all spooky stuff, really. Our hopes are
high and we have each other and an extraordinary array of kindred
spirits, including all of you.
